COVID-19, fundamental rights and freedom: Rocco Panetta’s article for the IAPP

The article focuses on a very topical issue: the relationship between the right to health and the right to data protection

The topic of processing personal data is significantly important and cannot be reduced to a plain challenge between the right to health and the right to privacy. However, that changes when there is a pandemic like the one we are experiencing now – there would not be any preferences or challenges to this, since the right to health for every individual prevails above all other rights, without deleting them at the same time“.

In an article published for IAPP, our Managing Partner Rocco Panetta addresses the issue of the relationship between the right to health and the right to data protection in the context of the Covid-19 outbreak, introducing also the most relevant practical and ethical problems of an highly debated issue.
